Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Hope you have a nice stay!

Deck The Halls

Deck The Halls

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, indeed! Like many others, Christmas is my favorite time of the year. The twinkle lights, the holiday tunes, and magic in the air! Who can deny it? I have already begun to transform our home into a winter wonderland. I get a lot of questions on how I come up with my decor ideas and where to purchase the items. I used some old and purchased new as my style has changed just a touch from the previous year!

The farmhouse trend seems to be all the rage or was it always this way? It’s been about two years since we have moved in our quaint home and I love being able to really showcase my style. I have always been a fan of neutral tones with a little glitz and glam. Having two dogs and a baby on the way the glass and all white needed a makeover, ha ha. So, here we have my take on a Farmhouse Christmas inspired home, of course with my own personal touch!

BARGAIN shopper! Who doesn’t love a good deal? Michael’s and Hobby Lobby both have 50% off on Christmas decor, which is a steal! I grabbed a lot of my items from there and a few from Home Goods this year. I always try to reuse what I have and add to it without breaking the bank. However, it is your home and you have to love what you see everyday. So, if you see something you absolutely love for a little more than you wanted to spend- I say do it! You will have it as an investment every year forward to decorate with in your home!

How do I get my ideas? Well, most of them truly just come together in my mind as I am moving items around. I do look at pinterest a lot, and also I check out other bloggers to see what might spark my creative juices! I always say you can’t stop learning and I think the same goes for trends whether they be fashion or in the home. We all are a version of some trend but it’s what you do with it that makes it your own style. What works for one person doesn’t work for everyone. So, I say take what you like from the ideas you see and create your own unique version of that.

My centerpiece on the dining room table this year was a combo of these. I saw a fellow blogger- Cottonstem, showing how she “beefs” up her garland for her mantle. It inspired me to want a Christmas garland, but on my table. I then set out to find one, thank you to Michael’s and it was 60% off! I also had a deer laying down from last year and I knew I wanted to find a second one but facing the opposite way. (HOBBY LOBBY) As well as my tall silver tree that I already had. I wanted to find two smaller ones to go along side the larger one in the center of the table. In general when decorating a good rule of thumb is to place things in odd numbers. So, on my table you’ll see 5 decor items added to the garland and set on top of a burlap runner. (Home Goods) Simple, yet so beautiful!

Alas, the tree. I really had my heart set on flocking our tree this year, but I then learned how much work would go into covering each light since its prelit and quickly changed my mind. I have lots of smaller flocked trees and items around the home so, I felt it was okay to skip that part of my plan. I place the ornaments on first in no real particular order, just wherever feels right. I finish with garland fillers, I got this idea from a friend I met while living on Guam. Yes, I lived there that is a whole seperate blog, lol. Anyway, she used cranberry stems and different floral arrangments to fill in the spaces on her tree and I loved it! It has stuck with me ever since. I picked mine up from Christmas Tree Shoppe. They have tons and they’re all inexpensive which is a plus.

I hope you enjoy my Winter wonderland as much as I do.

xx
